Terms & conditions
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Welcome to Coparency (“Coparency,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Coparency mobile apps, the web app, our website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
1. Eligibility
To use the Services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old,
- Have legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and
- Use the Services for lawful purposes only.
Children may not have accounts. You are responsible for deciding whether the Services are appropriate for your situation.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details confidential and for activity on your account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date,
- Use only your own account, and
- Tell us promptly at support@coparency.com if you believe someone else has accessed it.
Coparency is not liable for loss caused by unauthorized use of your account.
3. The shared record
Coparency keeps a shared record of communication between co-parents. That record is only useful if both parents can rely on it, so:
- Once a message is sent, it can't be edited or deleted by you, the other parent, or anyone else using the Services.
- Messages, calendar entries, expenses, children's information and other content in a shared co-parenting space belong to that space's shared record. Each parent in the space can see and export it, and one parent cannot remove it from the other.
- If you leave a space or delete your account, what you contributed stays in the record for the others in that space, as described in section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
- Either parent may export the record and share it, for example with a lawyer, mediator or court. Whether an export is admissible is for the court to decide; Coparency does not certify records or guarantee admissibility.
4. Messaging and Peacekeeper AI
Our messaging tools include Peacekeeper, a set of AI features that suggest calmer wording, flag harmful content, summarise threads and write private reflections. You acknowledge that:
- Peacekeeper processes the content of messages, including messages you receive, using third-party AI providers named in our Privacy Policy,
- Its suggestions, flags and summaries are automated, are informational only and may be wrong or incomplete; they are not a judgement about either parent,
- Harmful-content protection may miss messages or flag harmless ones, and does not replace your own judgement,
- Coparency does not review or verify what users send, and
- You are solely responsible for the messages you send.
Coparency may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms.
Coparency is not an emergency service. Messages may be delayed or not delivered. If anyone is in danger, contact emergency services.
5. Scheduling, expenses and children's information
The calendar, expense tools and children's profiles are organisational tools. You acknowledge that:
- Coparency does not enforce, interpret or validate court orders or parenting plans,
- Parents remain responsible for complying with their legal agreements,
- Scheduling and financial decisions, and any disagreements about them, are between users,
- Coparency records expenses and payments but does not move money between parents, and does not mediate disputes or decide what is fair, and
- You will enter information about your children, and about other people such as doctors and teachers, only where you are entitled to, and you are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to it.
6. Inviting other people
You can invite others into your co-parenting space, and you are responsible for whom you invite:
- Professionals (such as attorneys, mediators or therapists) and support contacts (such as family members) see what their role and invitation allow. Either parent can remove the people they invited at any time. Professionals are responsible for their own professional and confidentiality obligations.
- Email bridge. If you set up email forwarding for a co-parent who doesn't use the app, their emails to your Coparency address become messages in your record and are handled like any other message.
- Calendar feeds. A calendar feed link lets anyone who has it see your calendar without signing in. Share it only with people and apps you trust.
7. Plans, trials and payment
Coparency is a paid service for parents. Current prices are on our pricing page; at the time of writing they are $7.99 a month or $75 a year per parent. Professional and support-contact accounts are free.
- Free month. Every parent account includes a free month. No payment details are needed, and nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
- Two-seat plans. One parent may buy a plan that also covers the other parent in the same co-parenting space.
- Where you buy. Plans are sold on the web through Stripe, and in our apps through the Apple App Store and Google Play. A purchase through Apple or Google is also governed by that store's terms, including its rules on refunds.
- Renewal. Plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period at the then-current price until you cancel. We will tell you before a price change applies to your plan.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time: web plans in the app under Settings, and App Store or Google Play plans in your store account. You keep full access until the end of the period you paid for. Except where the law or the store requires otherwise, payments are not refunded.
- Without a plan. When your free month or paid plan ends, your account becomes read-only. You can still read, organise and export your record, and respond to requests already made of you, such as approving an expense or answering a swap request. You can't send messages, or add or change other content, until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you submit. You give Coparency a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process and display it, solely to:
- Operate and improve the Services, including through our service providers and Peacekeeper AI,
- Show it to the people in your co-parenting space and the people you or they invite, and
- Keep it in the shared record as described in section 3, including after you leave or delete your account.
We will not sell your personal information, and we do not allow our AI providers to train their models on your messages.
9. User conduct
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten or abuse others,
- Post harmful, defamatory or misleading content,
- Impersonate anyone, or enter information about people you have no right to share,
- Upload viruses or malicious code,
- Interfere with the operation or security of the Services, or
- Attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how Peacekeeper processes messages, which providers we use, and what deleting your account removes.
11. Third-party services
The Services use and link to third-party services, such as app stores, payment providers and calendar apps. Coparency is not responsible for their content, privacy practices or terms, and you use them at your own risk.
12. Ending your use of Coparency
- You can stop using the Services at any time, and delete your account in the app under Settings. Section 3 explains what stays in the shared record.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the Services, or put others at risk. Where we can, we will give notice and a chance to export your record first.
13. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the Services, other than content you submit, are owned by Coparency or its licensors. You may not:
- Copy, modify or distribute the Services,
- Reverse engineer our software, or
- Use our name or branding without permission.
14. Licence to use the Services
Coparency grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Services for your personal use, or for professional users, to support the families who invite them.
15. Disclaimers
Coparency is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- That the Services are error-free,
- That communications will always be delivered,
- Outcomes related to co-parenting, legal disputes, or agreements.
Peacekeeper suggestions, flags and summaries are informational and may not always be accurate.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Coparency is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages,
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for subscriptions in the past 12 months.
Use of the Services is at your own risk.
17. Not a legal, medical, or mental health service
Coparency does not provide:
- Legal advice,
- Mental health treatment,
- Mediation services,
- Professional counseling.
You should consult qualified professionals when needed.
18. Changes to the Services and these Terms
We may update, modify or discontinue features. When we change these Terms, we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continued use after that means you accept it.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Venue for disputes will be in Oregon courts unless otherwise required by law.
20. Dispute resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to attempt informal resolution by contacting support. If unresolved, disputes may be subject to arbitration where permitted by law.
