Forward Gmail into Coparency.
Set up a Gmail filter that quietly forwards every co-parenting email to your Coparency inbox — so nothing slips between two apps.
What you'll need from Coparency
Two things, both available inside the app:
- Your Coparency inbox address. This is the address Coparency listens on — anything sent here arrives in your messages. It looks like
a7k3m9p2@msg.coparency.com. In Coparency, open Account → Coparency to find it. - Your co-parent's email address(es). The addresses they send mail from today.

What this guide does
A Gmail filter quietly forwards emails from people you choose to your Coparency address. It's the simplest way to start using Coparency without asking your co-parent to change anything on their end. This is useful when:
- Your co-parent prefers their regular email over installing a new app.
- Professional contacts (lawyers, mediators, therapists) communicate by email.
- You want all co-parenting messages — and only those — in one place.
Step-by-step
Add your Coparency inbox as a forwarding address in Gmail
- Open Gmail and click the gear icon in the top right.
- Click "See all settings".
- Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- Click "Add a forwarding address".
- Paste your Coparency inbox address from the app.
- Click "Next", then "Proceed".
Gmail will send a confirmation email to your Coparency inbox. Open Coparency, find the confirmation message, and click the link inside to verify.
Create a label (recommended)
A label keeps forwarded emails organized in Gmail too.
- In Gmail, scroll down in the left sidebar and click "+ Create new label".
- Enter "Coparency" as the label name.
- Click "Create".
Create a filter for co-parenting emails
- In Gmail, click in the search bar at the top.
- Click the filter icon (or "Show search options") on the right.
- In the "From" field, enter your co-parent's email address. If they use more than one, separate them with
OR, like:jordan@example.com OR jordan.work@example.com. - Click "Create filter".
Tip: Coparency can pre-build this filter string for you with every contact email already included. Open the app, go to your co-parent's Contact, and look for the email forwarding helper.
Configure the filter actions
Check the following actions:
- Skip the Inbox (Archive it) — keeps your Gmail inbox clean.
- Apply the label: select "Coparency" (if you created it).
- Forward it to: select your Coparency inbox address.
- Never send it to Spam — recommended.
Click "Create filter" to save.
Test the setup
- Ask your co-parent (or a friend) to send a test email.
- Confirm the email arrives in Gmail with the Coparency label.
- Open Coparency and verify the message lands in your inbox.
Once verified, every matching email will quietly land in both Gmail and Coparency from now on.
