Forward Apple Mail into Coparency.
Use a Mail rule on macOS so every email from your co-parent lands in Coparency automatically.
What you'll need from Coparency
- Your Coparency inbox address. Looks like
a7k3m9p2@msg.coparency.com. In Coparency, open Account → Coparency to find it. - Your co-parent's email address(es). The addresses they send mail from today.

What this guide does
An Apple Mail rule forwards messages from people you choose to your Coparency address. It's useful when:
- Your co-parent prefers their regular email over installing a new app.
- Professional contacts (lawyers, mediators, therapists) communicate by email.
- You want all co-parenting messages — and only those — in one place.
Apple Mail rules only run while the Mail app is open on your Mac. If you want forwarding to happen even when your computer is off, set up the rule in iCloud Mail on the web instead — Apple's iCloud rules run server-side.
Step-by-step
Open Mail rules
- Open the Mail app on your Mac.
- In the menu bar, click Mail → Settings (or Mail → Preferences on older macOS).
- Click the Rules tab.
- Click "Add Rule".
Set up the rule conditions
- In the Description field, enter "Forward to Coparency".
- Set the dropdown to "If any" of the following conditions are met.
- For the first condition, select "From" → "is equal to", then paste your co-parent's email.
- Click the + button to add another condition for each additional email address.
Tip: Coparency lists every contact email inside the app — open your co-parent's Contact and copy each address into a new condition.
Set up the forwarding action
Under "Perform the following actions":
- Select "Forward Message" from the action dropdown and enter your Coparency inbox address.
- Optional: Click the + button to add another action — "Move Message" to a mailbox named "Coparency" keeps your inbox organized.
Save and apply
- Click "OK" to save your rule.
- When asked if you want to apply the rule to existing messages, choose "Don't Apply".
Test the setup
- Ask your co-parent (or a friend) to send you a test email.
- Make sure the Mail app is open on your Mac.
- Confirm the email is forwarded — look for it in the "Coparency" mailbox if you created one.
- Open Coparency and verify the message appears in your inbox.
Once verified, every matching email will appear in both Apple Mail and Coparency from now on (while Mail is running).
Need help?
Rule not working? Make sure Mail is open — Apple Mail rules only process while the app is running. Also verify each condition uses "is equal to" (not "contains").
Adding more contacts later? Open Mail → Settings → Rules, select "Forward to Coparency", click "Edit", and add a new condition for each address.
